Editorial policy
United County Journal aims to make countryside subjects clear, careful and worth returning to. We distinguish what can be observed from what is inferred, explain relevant terms and correct errors openly.
Accuracy and care
We check factual statements against appropriate, available references before publication and take care not to present a general description as true of every place. Where evidence is incomplete or a feature has more than one plausible explanation, we say so. Our articles are intended for general interest and do not replace local knowledge or specialist assessment where that is needed.
Independence
Editorial decisions are made for reader interest and relevance to the publication's subject. A commercial relationship does not guarantee coverage, a favourable view or a particular conclusion. We do not present a contributor's opinion as an established fact.
Corrections
If you believe a piece contains an error, please use the Contact page and identify the article and the point at issue. We review correction requests, check the claim and update material errors with a clear note when appropriate.
Partner material and illustrations
Paid, supplied or otherwise partner-supported material is clearly identified as such and kept distinct from independent editorial work. Illustrations may be AI-generated; when they are, that is disclosed with the illustration or in its accompanying context. Images are not evidence of a particular place unless explicitly stated and supported.
